This program works only under the combination of Windows2000 and
FMS. It works on WindowsXP rarely, but there is a case when the FMS
will not start. In this case, please delete winmm.dll which you installed.
Although the FMS starts again, you can't use SmartPropo in your system.
Installation
First, please download the DLL to suit with your TX form the
Download page. If your TX supports both PCM and PPM mode, I recommend
you to use the PCM version. The file is compressed by zip. Please
refer this
page, if you want to know how to extract them. When you extract
this file, you may find the file named "winmm.dll". Then, please
copy this file into the folder where you installed the FMS (where
FMS.exe exists).
Please start FMS now. If it starts normally, please open the dialog
from "Controls - Analog control...", and then, please select "Joystick
Interface" and click "Resources". A dialog like the left may comes.
If it is indicated at the column of "Joystick 1" that "SmartPropo
and Number of Axis : 6 and State : If displayed as Active", this
process is a success. When this screen does not come, please confirm
once again whether winmm.dll is copied to the same folder as FMS.exe.
In WindowsXP, there is a case where a screen like the right will
come out and FMS will not start. In this case, please give up
:^P
There is information that FMS will start by deleting "Unimodem
Full-duplex Audio Device" from device manager. However, you may
going to be impossible to use a modem, and other influences will
come. I don't concern about this solution, because this problem
have not carried out on my system.
Interface Cable Preparation
If your TX is JR, you can use commercial monophonic audio cable
to get it work. I recommend you to use registered cable, because
if excessibe voltage is inputted into your PC, it will be destroyed
in the worst case. However, it may not works with registered cable,
because voltage falls too much to sense. In this case, you can
try with non-registered cable, but please remember to do this
at your own risk. If possible, I recommend you to make the cable
yourself, which the resistance is set up appropriately.
If you want to use with Futaba TX, I think the easiest way is
to combert form DSC cable. Please refer the figure on the left.
Since a red line is not used, please process suitably not to contact
to other lines. When the DSC code is used, since a radio will
not be activated, a battery will hold out for more time.
Audio Input Setting
Please connect your TX to the audio input on your PC with ther
cable desaribed abobe. I think microphone input or line input
is appropriate. Next, please open "Recording Volume Control" dialog
from "Control Panel - Sound and Multimedia - Audio - Recording
- Volume". Then, please "Select" the port which you've connected
your TX. If the appropreate port is not visible, please check
"Show the following colume controls" from "Options - Properties".
Similarly, please open "Playback - Volume" and check "Mute"
to the port you've connected your TX. If you omitted this operation,
the signal from your TX will be outputted to a speaker.
Please start "Sound Recorder" or other suitable applications,
and check whether the audio input is active. Then please adjust
the volume, the best volume level is as shown in the figure on
right. When you can't see the input even if the volume is set
to maximum, please try with checking "Microphone Boost" on "Microphone
Volume - Advanced" dialog. This dialog will be active when the
"Options - Advance" is checked (This is a case of SoundBlaster).
Caribration
The details about joystick calibration of FMS are not described
here. Just as advice, please set ATV (End Point) maximum on your
TX while caribrating FMS. Then, please caribrate such as "Exp"
or "Rev" on your TX as you like. By adjusting them not on the
FMS but on your TX, SmartPorpo can perform the best precision.
In the case when the axis are jittered, please modify redording
settings, on "Control Panel - Sound and Multimedia - Audio - Recording
- Advanced" dialog. It may be improved.
SmartPropo WDM Technology Preview 1
First, please understand that this is a very dangerous program.
Although the DLL version of SmartPropo makes only your FMS unexecutable,
WDM version is possible to destroy your Windows in the worst case,
because WDM version contains kernel-mode driver. Before the instllation,
plese surely backup the current hardware profile, and if you don't
understand this, never install this alpha release. I'll release more
functional version after stable operation is checked.
Driver Instllation

not). Please obey the reboot request.

again. In this time, "Game Device" driver instllation is performed
automatically.
This is the last chance if you want to give up the instllation,
although there is no person who give up in this timing. Please
click "Yes" to install, if you could makek up your mind.

Next, please set the sound card and the port whith you connected
your TX, to the "Device" and "Port".
Then, adjust the volume as shown in left figure.
Open the "TX" tab, and set your TX type to "TX Type". If bars
on below move as you mives sticks on your TX, it is success.
Just to make sure, please test SmartPropo on "Control Panel -
Game Option - Controllers - SmartPropo Game Device - Propaties"
Get Started!
The WDM version of SmartPropo works of course with FMS, moreover,
it works with any software which supports joystick in principle.
A left screen is "Flight on Mt.Fuji".
Although the fatal error is not occured on my system, but I can't
say it always works correctly.
When you want to close SmartPropo, please right-click the icon
on task tray, then click "Exit".
