Team manager of the 1979 F3B winning
South African Team (as well as many more
I'm sure). When I knew Jack in the '80's he drove alot of the
contest run at the time. In this era the Nats and Transvaal
chanps etc where all flown in Vaal and where run by Jack. During
this time he organised and hosted the first ever F3E (now F5B)
event in South Africa.
I'm sure the description above is hopelessly incomplete and
hope others will
fill in alot of the blanks.

1979 F3B Team
Nord Gerneke
Frikkie Roos
Roy Spavins |
I also believe the entire 1979 South African F3B
team (including their winch) should be inducted. If I'm not
mistaken they are Noord Gernecke, Frikkie Roos and Roy Spavins.

| Dennis de Wet |
He was blinded in one eye when a piece of steel
wire snapped and a splinter got him before he could close the
eye. This didnt stop him flying and he was instrumental
in the birth of the Southern Soaring Club in 1972. He also created
and administered the Eagle Soaring Achievement badges. |

Made the first ever radio-controlled flight by
a model (glider!) in South Africa from the beach at Hout
Bay on the 30th July 1939. (A little real History never did
any harm!) |
